Opal organic spa therapy was created by Janelle Gerrits.
A graduate from Alberta Academy of Aesthetics, Janelle has been a certified spa therapist for over 4 years with training in, electrolysis, waxing, threading, skin care, body treatments, make up artistry, gel/acrylic/fiberglass nails, pedique/toe nail reconstruction, Manicures, Pedicure & Brazilian waxing techniques. Continually upgrading her education to provide the best quality spa services available. This year Janelle will be attending diabetic pedicuring courses & eyebrow, eyelash enhancement classes. In the quest to provide relaxation and wellbeing to others, Janelle is also a first year student in Massage Therapy. This is a two year certification to become an R.M.T. The Opal studio is designed for one on one service, equipped with a heated massage table, custom wet table, pedicure chairs with beautiful hand crafted resin bowls and an array of luxury organic products. This private environment, provides comfort when receiving spa treatments. Free from the up tightness of commercial spas, free from interruptions, free of salon "politics" and gossip, just a comfortable, relaxing, non judgmental environment. Safe products and cleanliness are important to Opal. All equipments, tools, furniture are cleaned, sanitized and/or sterilized between customers. Each client is serviced with fresh linens to ensure cleanliness. Disposable items may also be used during services. Opal organic spa therapy follows all Alberta health guidelines and regulations for Aesthetic services. Opal organic spa therapy chooses products that are listed with the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. Opal uses and provides products that do not contain, paraben, petrochemicals, synthetic dyes, fragrance, harsh preservatives or ingredients that may mimic estrogen. This is to provide services that are safer for expectant/nursing mothers, child safe environment, clients that may have sensitivity to such ingredients. The name of the studio was chosen due to the various meanings and representations the stone OPAL has associated with it. Listed below are some of these ideas. Opal represents purity and intensity. It assists in emotional and mental balance, calms the inner soul. Facilitates actualization. Excellent stone for progress, expansion, and development. Helps one connect the conscious and subconscious, providing for a clearing understanding of oneself. Facilitates communication between the Earth plane and the star people of this world and other worlds. Clears and brightens the aura, stimulates healing. Multi colors in the opals stimulated various levels of the Chakra. Opal is also considered an excellent healing stone for the skin, due to it's water content. The word Opal is derived from the Latin word "opalus" which means "a stone". The precious opal presents a peculiar play of colors of delicate tints, and is highly esteemed as a gem. |
